The 2008 shortlist for the Booker Prize has been announced and guess who’s sitting on it, claws sharpened and tail wagging?  That’s right, Aravind Adiga, author of The White Tiger, has been shortlisted for this prestigious prize even though this is his first novel.  He managed to beat out some pretty heavy-hitters, so everyone who backed this novel way back when it was a manuscript should be proud.

The Man Booker Prize is awarded to the year’s best novel written by a citizen of the Commonwealth or the Republic of Ireland, and is one of the most sought after, written about and highly-discussed prizes on the world of literature.  The winner will be announced on October 14.  For more information and a complete list of finalists, visit the Booker Prize website here:
