As parents and educators of young children will attest, many kids are fascinated by both trucks and books—so bringing them together creates a unique and kid-pleasing experience.
On October 4, 2008, crowds of over 5,000 (with at least half being children) gathered at Niagara College’s Niagra-on-the-Lake campus to experience some of coolest working trucks out there. This annual fundraiser for literacy, Touch-a-Truck, gives kids the chance to—as the name suggests—actually touch, sit in, and see these big trucks up close and personal.
Simon and Schuster was very happy to go along for the ride, bringing lots of Trucktown books and fun activities to give to all the kids. As demonstrated by the great success of our displays, Trucktown books are a great pathway to reading for the kids in your life that are fascinated by these amazing machines.
