The truth is, a book hasn’t made it big until it has been made into a parody. That’s what the masterminds behind The Harvard Lampoon have done for The Hunger Games.
The Hunger Pains is a loving parody of Suzanne Collin’s dystopian trilogy that will make you laugh so hard, you might pee your pants!
It follows closely to the original story, with the country of Peaceland (formerly known as the United States) divided into districts ruled by an authoritarian government called The Capital. The story follows our heroine, Kantkiss Neverclean from District 12 (also known as the telemarketing district) renowned for its tactless marketing techniques. Kantkiss’ life changes when she accidentally volunteers herself as a contestant on The Hunger Games, the second highest rated reality TV show in Peaceland.
As cameras follow her in a typical reality TV show fashion, she stumbles her way to victory with her cluelessness, meeting the cast of The Hunger Games’ counterparts like Pita Malarkey (Peeta Meelark), Buttitch Totalapathy (Haymitch Abernathy), and Effu Poorpeople (Effie Trinket) along the way. You get the idea.
Fans of The Hunger Games with a sense of humour will find themselves rolling on the floor laughing after reading this parody. Not convinced? Browse inside the book today! What are you waiting for? Let the games begin!
The Hunger Pains blooper reel. (Possibly funnier than the trailer!)
